Alright. Are you guys here all weekend for Inc.? Yes, we are. Okay, sweet. Well, super nice to meet you. Thanks for coming over. So I'm just gonna ask, just gonna ask a few questions, have fun with it, whatever. So what are some of your biggest musical pet peeves? Pet musical?

Oh man, you start. What are your musical pet peeves?

Well, when we're playing a show, band said take forever to break down. That's a pretty big pet peeve of mine. Or take forever to set up. Yeah. You gotta go, go, go, be quick.

Yep. I've heard that a couple times.

Um show pet peeves. Jesus. Uh when like the sound guy doesn't put the backtracks or the vocals through the speakers, that's a pretty big one of mine. Okay. That's happened more than it should.

Musical pet peeves. Oh pet peeves. When the show goes later than like 3 a.m.

I would say most likely, you know, especially when it comes to setting up and breaking down, just mainly just miscommunication and disorganization. Um, you know, just uh yeah, like Robbie was saying, I just try to get on and off as quickly as possible. And sometimes if it gets held up, it's like, you know, kind of frustrating because it kind of makes me look bad. But I don't know. We all we all we all do our best. It's a team effort out here, and uh, you know, we just kick ass, do our thing, and uh yeah, just have as much fun as possible. Right?

I'd I'd say I wouldn't want to put this, this isn't against the fans or anything, but I think like a peppy for me is like I don't like it when the fans try to take pictures with us while another band is playing. I'd rather have them wait till the end because I feel like it's disrespectful.

Totally, I get that.

And I don't I know they don't do it on purpose, but that always like I want to like just wait if you wait till the end, you know?

SPEAKER_01 2:40

Right, yeah. And that's respect to you for like sticking around and hanging out, you know, hearing the other bands too. That could be a pet peeve that I've heard come up. When the band doesn't stick around, you know, you take off and you don't listen to other people, so that's good support. Um, coffee, energy drink, or something stronger before a show.

Coffee, coffee, coffee, energy drink, or something stronger before. I drink a double, I drink a couple doubles of J-Mo every night before a show.

All right. So, like, you know, to start the day, I'll have a cup of coffee, but like, you know, right before a set, I won't be drinking anything but water.

Yeah, I like to drink a few glasses of something before a show. Not too much, obviously, there's a point of diminishing returns, but a couple drinks usually loosens me up.

What is the best advice you've ever received as a musician?

SPEAKER_05 3:42

Oh, two. So we hung out on um, we were playing a festival called I Metter Festival back when we were kind of starting out. It'll be almost 10 years for us next year, but uh it'll be 10 years next year. But we're playing a festival in 2018, and we played with IC Stars, and they came on our RV and talked to us, and they gave us so much information about being a DIY band, and it helped us. We set up our BMI royalties and all this stuff that industry doesn't tell people, and like how to the information we got about how to make money as a band from that conversation for me personally was like, I mean, I could think maybe he might agree with me, but like I was crazy. Best advice you ever got.

Um yeah, always play like you're playing at 10,000 people, regardless. Um, obviously, there's some things you gotta read the room about, but you know, the people that are coming and pay tickets, they're there to see a show. We're here to be performers. So always put on a smile and give them the time of their life, regardless if there's 10 people or 10,000.

I always tell my vocal students, I do vocal lessons and stuff, is like you have to be the snake charmer, you can't let the snake charm you. So you can't let this the if someone has a flat face, it's your job to make it change, not to also go with them coil. You gotta don't matter. If I see someone staring with their arms crossed, I lean into them even harder. Like, and then they eventually I'll get like a sometimes.

Uh best advice, not music. Without passion, you're already dead. So the second you're not passionate about it, why are you even doing it? Total. Absolutely. That's that's yeah.

So uh best advice I ever got uh was from my father, and uh it was sex, drugs, and rock and roll, you can only have one.

No, me neither. I was in Vegas for three years, my first man, and we didn't even play a show. We just did the other parts.
